High efficiency air drying solution

Ircon-Solaronics air dryers offer excellent efficiency combined with uniform heat transfer and optimal web support. We offer impingement and floatation nozzles, depending on your process requirements. The nozzles made of high-precision stainless steel or extruded aluminuzed steel offer excellent uniformity and precision.

For face to face drying, the FoilMaster™ with floatation nozzles provide a perfect combination of web support with a slightly S-formed shape trough the dryer which stabilize the web and avoid flutter and drying efficiency by optimal nozzle design. This solution is often the optimal choice for lighter webs (as coated paper or specialty papers).

The nozzles are specially designed to allow best possible cross direction air flow as well as high air velocity up to 70 m/s if required, depending on design. The nozzles are made of extruded anodized aluminium or steel. Between the nozzles there is the suction part.

For the highest drying capacity, the FoilMaster™ Twin is a perfect choice in single side drying configurations. The impingement nozzles are designed for optimal transfer of energy and highest heat transfer capacity. This solution is often the optimal choice for heavy paper grades and for all board grades. Compared to floatation configuration, drying capacity is increased by up to 20 %.

Flexibility in energy source

We can supply the air heating system using steam coils (up to 180 °C blowing air temperature), electrical batteries or gas burners.

We also have supplied hybrid systems where the heating source can be selected based on daily energy prices, allowing for potential additional energy cost savings and take full advantage of your local energy supply situation.

Energy efficiency

We have different solutions to optimize overall energy efficiency of your total drying solution:

  • ERS (Energy Recovery System): combining available exhaust heat from an infrared dryer with make-up air of air dryer(s)
  • Heat exchanger: recovery of waste heat the exhaust air of the FoilMaster for preheating combustion air and/or make-up air of the air drying system
  • DEOS: Drying Energy Optimization System – the principle is optizming the total energy efficiency of the circulation air heating system by controlling air humidity, temperature and air flows, using measurements of blowing and exhaust air moisture and using the measurements to perfectly adjust the make-up air and suction air flows of the system.
