Paper & Board machines consume an important amount of energy to dry. Coating sections in particular are very energy-intensive as a large amount of the drying is done by non-contact dryers which consume gas and electricity directly or indirectly.

As a specialist of drying of Paper & Board coatings, we have developed over the years the expertise to evaluate this energy consumption and we propose some great solutions which can help you keep the energy bill under control or reduce it drastically.

Some of our solutions are listed below:

Emitter upgrade: we can achieve savings of more than 10 % by replacing gas or electrical IR emitters
Dryer replacement: depending on the situation, up to 30 % energy savings can be achieved
ERS (Energy Recovery System): either using existing dryers with some upgrades, either with new dryers
Add compact AirDryer using exhaust air from IR dryer (AirBarDryer)

Energy Benchmarking

In order to predict the savings and commit to the guarantee we can give, we have developed an array of tools allowing us to evaluate the energy consumption of the existing situation fine tuned to the measurements done during our audits.

We can also provide benchmark comparison to similar production site, while keeping the obtained information confidential as you expect.

Gas Infrared Emitters

The workhorse of our gas infrared dryers is the gas infrared emitter. We have a range of emitters designed for high lifetime, combined with optimal efficiency. Our installations are designed in order to be able to use any of the emitters from our  product range.

Energy Recovery System

The Energy Recovery system (ERS) is based on using the exhaust air from an infrared system at high temperature level as energy source for the air-dryer, leading to a drastic decrease of gas or steam consumption.

Electrical Infrared Modules

Our modules are high density electrical infrared emitters developed for straight heating and profiling.

UniDryer®

The Ircon-Solaronics UniDryer® is a combined gas infrared and air drying system in which high drying performance gas infrared emitters are alternated with high temperature and velocity nozzles. The UniDryer® system benefits from a very high flexibility for the best product quality.

DryMaster™

The Ircon-Solaronics DryMaster™ is the newest shortwave electric Infra-Red dryer development. It allows advanced, quick and precise drying control, higher drying loads and high efficiency. These features provide improved production and quality of paper and board.

AirBarDryer™

Compact airdryer without burner: only energy from infrared dryer is used.

Coat Drying

Our coat drying systems ensure fast, contactless drying to stabilize coatings, avoid defects, and preserve print quality across all coated paper and board grades.

Size Press Drying

Our size press drying solutions remove surface moisture quickly and gently, helping restore sheet strength, prevent web breaks, and boost production speed.

Barrier Coatings

Our systems deliver rapid, controlled drying of barrier and specialty coatings to eliminate blistering, protect layer integrity, and ensure high-performance end results.

Moisture Profiling

Infrared profiling technology enables real-time cross-direction moisture control to improve flatness, reducing curl and mottling, and increasing reel and calender quality.

Boost of Production Capacity

Targeted drying upgrades help eliminate bottlenecks, increase evaporation, and boost line speed and capacity – without compromising quality or needing full rebuilds.

Edge Drying

Infrared edge drying stabilises sheet edges during high-speed runs, helping to prevent edge cracks, improve web handling, and increase the overall production capacity.
